Meet Vikki

Erstwhile lawyer, college admission professional, old-timey web developer, data conversion specialist, unemployed budtender, and cigar salesperson, I am 43 years old and sorta kind halfass working on being an adult. Meanwhile, this is the view from my couch.

Lately I’ve been able to be honest enough with myself to acknowledge that there’s nothing I love more than television, and my first love is The Facts of Life. I started watching it when I was wee – I recall being late to fourth grade because there was a network that showed re-runs of Facts in the morning.

When the magic ability to record things from the TV came about, I jumped on it. I have a whole box of these.

The episodes were not in the right order, the quality was poor, they had commercials, and they were slashed to bits due to considerations in syndication, but they were the only way I could keep spending time with the dear friends with whom I’d grown up. I watched them over and over and I still have them in storage.

Technology has advanced to the point that I have the whole series on DVD now, and even that is old timey. But as far as I’m aware, that’s the only way to ensure that you’ve got the complete, uncut collection, and I will settle for nothing less.

I started this blog because there were virtually no resources for Facts online. I get enough hits and feedback to know that I am meeting a need (however niche it may be!), and I’m lucky enough to have time to put into continuing to build this site.

The site is not just about the show, it’s about the show through a modern lens. That lens is mine, so it is left-leaning and feminist. If you like my angles, you might enjoy my other blog, which mostly features political ramblings and pictures of my dog. You can also follow me on Twitter and Instagram.
